Softball: Litz strikes out 13 in Niskayuna win

Senior Gabbie Litz fired a two-hitter and struck out 13 Friday, leading Niskayuna past Mohonasen, 5-0, in a Suburban Council game.

Litz took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, as her teammates gave her a 4-0 lead.

Jackie O’Brien had two singles, knocked in a run and scored a run, and Jules Sherman doubled and singled, also driving in a run, as the Lady Warriors improved to 7-4 in league play.

Suburban division leaders Shenendehowa and Colonie both picked up league wins No. 10.

Erika Daigle two-hit Averill Park as Shenendehowa posted a 3-0 win. Catcher Caitlin Lawson helped her pitcher with a two-run home run, and Courtney McDonnell hit a pair of doubles.

Kelly Lane struck out 13 and allowed only three hits as Colonie used four seventh-inning runs to get past Ballston Spa, 4-1.

Emily Loudis and Sam Blum both doubled and drove in a run, and Mary Waterman also had an RBI for Colonie.

Madelaine Fitgzerald went 2-for-3 for the Lady Scotties, who got a four-hitter from Abigail LeBarron,

Rachel Daugherty tripled home courtesy runner Sierra Jaeger, then scored on an error as Columbia edged Saratoga Springs, 2-0, by scoring twice in the second inning,

Hailey Van Vorst struck out eight, getting the final out in innings two through six by strikeout.

Freshman Victoria Rathwell went 3-for-5 with four RBI, and both Abi Peck and Eileen Seery knocked in three runs as Guilderland breezed past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 15-0.

Taylor Tewksbury held the Lady Spartans to four hits and struck out six as the Lady Dutch picked their fifth win in their last six SC games.

Mikayla Shade went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI as Bethlehem beat Shaker, 7-5. Jessie Fleck added a pair of base hits for 7-4 Bethlehem. Chelsea Elliott hit a double for Shaker.

Amsterdam erased a 2-0 deficit with three runs in the sixth inning, and rallied again in the seventh to top Catholic Central, 4-3, in the Big 10.

Ashley Przybylowicz hit a three-run triple in the fifth, and Tessa Filiberto doubled to open the home seventh and came around to score the winning run on two bunts, the second one misplayed by the Lady Crusaders.

Angelica Oliver had two singles and an RBI triple for Catholic Central.

Amanda Gatt threw a two-hitter, struck out 20 and scored the winning run as Voorheesville edged Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 1-0, in eight innings in the Colonial Council.

Gatt drew a walk in the eighth, stole second, got to third on Liz Slingerland’s bunt single and scored on a wild pitch.

The hit was the only one allowed by Ravena’s Haley Irvis, who struck out 17.

Eighth-grader Isabelle Dechairo hit a home run and a pair of singles to back Briana Bowen’s one-hitter, as Cohoes downed Cobleskill-Richmondville, 16-0.

Lilly Sencer, another eighth-grader, and Hayle Castaldo both added two hits for the Lady Tigers, and Bowen struck out 10.

Jen VanAlphen had four hits, and Kim Myers drove in two runs, as Ichabod Crane defeated Water­vliet, 12-1.

Beth Jones homered in the seventh inning for Watervliet.

Felicia Snyder tossed a no-hitter as Galway beat Sharon Springs, 17-0, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Sabrina Williams hit a single, double and triple for the Lady Eagles.

Kali Nolan hit a grand slam and triple, finishing with seven RBI, to lead Greenwich past Cambridge, 31-10, in the Wasaren League.

Sarah Heimbach added three singles, a double and a home run, Sam Whitehouse had three singles and a double, and Ashleigh Maines finished with four hits as the Witches went to 10-0 in the league.

Ange Stephano and Cassie Rock both had two hits, helping Loudonville Christian School beat Emma Willard, 6-2, to take over second place in the Central Hudson Valley League at 9-2.

Franchesca Finelli and Madi Akots both had two hits for the Jesters.

Angela Fix homered, and both Alex Braidt and Caitlin Pasco both had three hits in Germantown’s 19-3 victory over New Lebanon.
