Area colleges: Ortiz, Fish homer in Saints' win

— Andres Ortiz hit a three-run home run, and the Siena baseball team beat Binghamton, 10-3, on Wednesday.

The Saints (20-24) also got a home run from Mike Fish (Bethlehem), and Mike Allen (Saratoga Springs) doubled. Fish finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, and Allen had three RBI.

Softball

UALBANY 3-4, Army 1-3

ALBANY — Alexa Toole (South Glens Falls) laid down an RBI bunt single in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Kelly Costello with the winning run in the late game.

Costello and Vicky McFarland both doubled, and Charlise Castro had a triple and a single.

Annie Johnson hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning of the opener, providing the eventual winning runs.

Brittany MacFawn won both games, striking out 11 and walking one in 10 innings of work. Emily Ostrom (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) got the start in the late game, allowing just one earned run.
