Saints win softball slugfest

Mackenzie Franck drove in the winning run Tuesday as Saratoga Central Catholic scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat Berne-Knox-Westerlo, 26-25, in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Franck’s winning base hit ended a game that featured 48 hits.

Jocelyn Mahar went 4-for-5 with four runs scored, Meghan McDonough went 4-for-5 and scored five runs, Franck finished 3-for-6 and Myah Ondreyko was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBI for the Saints, 6-3 in the league and 8-3 overall.

Kaitlyn Kendle’s third hit of the game scored Ally Liddle with the winning run as Schoharie beat Can­ajoharie, 4-3, in eight innings in the WAC.

Lauren Balfe had three hits, and Taylor Fancher had two singles and scored twice for the Cougars.

Rylie Smith and Marissa Nellis both had RBI doubles in the seventh inning as St. Johnsville rallied to beat Sharon Springs, 6-5, in the WAC.

Jaimie Bartholomew hit a single, triple and home run and drove in four runs as Cobleskill-Richmondville topped Voorheesville, 18-8, in the Colonial Council.

Megan Krisowaty added four hits and knocked in three runs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Jen Brosseau had three singles and drove in three runs for Voorheesville.

Bailey Kross belted a two-run home run, and Dayanna Stevens had two hits and scored three runs to help Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk down Lansingburgh, 6-4.

Gess Partignani hit three singles, and Kyly Horton had two hits and drove in two runs for the Knights.

Jenny Hayward fired a four-hitter as Troy beat Albany, 10-1, to improve to 9-0 in the Big 10.

Victoria Hallett had three singles and two RBI, Alina Germinaro had a double and two singles, Destiny Weirzbeicki had a triple, Jess Marsh hit a pair of single, and Aly Lucier doubled and knocked in two runs for Troy.

Lauren Mahar threw a five-hitter, struck out eight and went 4-for-4 at the plate as Schalmont beat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 10-3, in a non-league game.

Erika Gogis had three hits and drove in a run, Savanna Liverio had two hits and an RBI, and Emily McLaughlin also had two hits for 10-3 Schalmont.

Emily Rutkey doubled and drove in two runs for the Lady Spartans.
