ALBANY April 1 is the deadline for nominations for Tulip Queen of the 65th annual Albany Tulip Festival.
You may nominate yourself or a person that you know.
Nominees must have a strong sense of community, be knowledgeable of Albany, and possess leadership skills. Eligible nominees are women between the ages of 18 and 23 who have never been married. They must reside in Albany County for the entire year of reign (May 2013-May 2014).
The Tulip Queen will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship, and each Court member will receive a $1,500 scholarship award upon completion of the year of reign.
The Tulip Queen and Court members will serve as Albany’s ambassadors for one full year of reign and will place a major focus on the Mayor Jerry Jennings Literacy Campaign, promoting the value of reading to children.
