Albany man charged in Sunday morning purse snatching
ALBANY A 45-year-old Albany man was charged today with snatching a purse from a woman early Sunday morning, according to Albany police.
After a day-and-a-half investigation, detectives charged Hector Cuevas with third-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and first-degree forgery.
Officers initially responded to the 800 block of Madison Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a robbery. When they arrived, a woman told them a man had approached her while she was walking by the intersection of Madison Avenue and Partridge Street and grabbed her arms before forcibly pulling her purse off her shoulder. She wasn’t injured during the robbery.
Cuevas was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County jail.
