— A local woman has celebrated her 110th birthday, making her one of the oldest people in the United States.

Jennie Pattist was joined by her four grandchildren as they celebrated her birthday Sunday at a nursing home in Saratoga Springs.

Pattist was born on March 24, 1903 on a Saratoga County dairy farm in the southern Adirondack foothills. She and her husband of 67 years raised two children.

After her husband died in 1990 she lived alone until being moved to the nursing home in 2009.

According to the Gerontology Research Group, Pattist is the eighth oldest person in New York state and one of the 65 oldest people in the U.S.
