Woman airlifted after Amsterdam crash
AMSTERDAM A motorist was injured this morning after apparently driving through a road barrier and over an embankment in the town of Amsterdam.
An investigator is on the scene probing the one-car crash and details were not immediately available, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's department.
Onlookers at the scene said firefighters pulled a woman out of the vehicle before she was placed on a MedFlight helicopter and rushed to a hospital.
The crash shut down the westbound lanes of state Route 5 just east of the City of Amsterdam this morning.
A gray, two-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo appeared to have traveled down the steep Widow Susan's Road and crossed Chapman Drive before plowing through a guide rail and going airborne, landing on state Route 5.
