— The Ballston Spa High School robotics team won first place at the northeast regional First Robotics competition this past weekend at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.

The win means the team will go on to the national competition in St. Louis in April.

For the competition, the team designed and prepared a robot that could shoot Frisbees into a goal and also climb.

The team also won the Team Spirit Award sponsored by Chrysler at the regional competition, school district officials said.

This is Ballston Spa’s fifth year as a participant in the competition.
