— Two snowmobilers were killed Saturday evening when they collided on the frozen surface of Indian Lake, state police said.

Dead are Paul A. Prill IV, 51, of Niskayuna, and Thomas R. Dykstra, 59, of Suffern. It was Dykstra who described in a state police news release as entering into Prill’s path, with the collision ensuing. Both men were thrown from their machines. They were taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, where they were pronounced dead.

The cause remained under investigation, police said Monday, but alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor.

The scene of the accident was about two miles south of the Indian Lake Marina, police said. Autopsies performed Sunday showed the causes of death for both to be blunt force trauma, with the manner being accidental.

Prill worked as a store manager at the CVS Pharmacy in Glenville, according to his obituary. He enjoyed camping, boating, golf and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Prill, son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Rachel Prill, and grandson Wyatt Paul Prill. He is also survived by his mother and sister.

Services are scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville.

The family asked in his obituary that any donations be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving via its website “and to write to your legislator to help save lives.”
