— A snowmobile accident in Indian Lake Saturday killed two, including a Schenectady man, state police said.

Killed in the accident was Paul A. Prill IV, 51, of Schenectady, and Thomas R. Dykstra, 59, of Suffern.

The two were operating snowmobiles Saturday evening on the frozen Indian Lake when their paths crossed, their snowmobiles striking each other, state police said. Both men were ejected from their machines. They were taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

The scene of the accident was about two miles south of the Indian Lake Marina, police said. Dykstra was operating his snowmobile on the lake headed north and entered the path of Prill’s machine, which was headed south, police said.

Autopsies performed Sunday showed the causes of the men’s deaths to be blunt force trauma, with the manner being accidental. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor, state police said.
