Schenectady man accused of slashing teen son with meat cleaver
SCHENECTADY A Schenectady man is accused of slashing his 16-year-old son with a meat cleaver Thursday.
Police said Navindra Deodat, 49, of Crane Street, attacked the boy just before 1 p.m. in their Crane Street home. The boy sustained cuts to his neck and right torso. He was treated at Ellis Hospital and required stitches to close his wounds, according to court papers.
Deodat is charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
