Amateur baseball: Albany Dutchmen top Amsterdam in 11th

ALBANY — Nate Rupiper’s single scored Brian Ruhm from second base with none out in the bottom of the 11th inning Thursday, lifting the Albany Dutchmen to a 3-2 victory over the Amsterdam Mohawks to complete a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League sweep.

Prior to the regularly scheduled contest, the teams completed a suspended game from June 6. The Dutchmen took a 6-5 win when Chris Suseck hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.

Ruhm led off the 11th with a walk and stole second. Rupiper then drove a 1-0 pitch down the right-field line to drive home Ruhm.

Thomas Belcher pitched three innings of two-hit relief to pick up the win.

The league-leading Dutchmen, who have won three straight, improve to 8-1. The Mohawks fall to 5-8.

Brigade sweep

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Dylan Butler’s two-run single in the third inning lifted the Saratoga Brigade to a 2-1 victory over the Danbury Westerners and completed a New England Collegiate Baseball League double-header sweep.

In the opener, Jordan Striegel’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Brigade a 7-6 victory.

Pitcher Nick Cioffi went the distance in Game 2, allowing a run on seven hits. He struck out five and walked one.

SCHENECTADY — Steve Zimmering’s two-run single staked Capital City to a 4-1 lead, and the A’s went on to snap the Albany Athletics’ nine-game winning streak with a 6-4 victory in an Eastern New York Travel League game.

Chris Bradt went the distance, scattering 10 hits and striking out five for Capital City (13-5).

Dan Barbero belted a two-run home run for the Albany Athletics (13-2).

Earing lifts Cyclones

SCHENECTADY — Isaiah Earing stole third base and then came home on an overthrow with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting the Schenectady Cyclones to a 5-4 Eastern New York Travel League 22U victory over the Rotterdam Rangers at Central Park “B” Diamond.

Earing, Jordan LaFontaine and Max Dangerfield each had a double for the Cyclones (5-4). Zach Andi and Kevin Poltorak added two singles each.

Dan Saccoco had a double and two singles for the Rangers (6-2).
