Police say Saratoga Springs man targeted Milton home in crime spree
MILTON A Saratoga Springs man is charged with several felonies after an alleged crime spree in which authorities accused him of hitting a man with a garden tool, damaging vehicles at the man’s home, trashing the victim’s house while he and other residents hid in the basement and then stealing a pickup track from another home.
Steven Prevendoski, 22, of 33 Orenda Springs Drive, allegedly committed the acts early Sunday. Saratoga County sheriff deputies first were called at 12:30 a.m. to a home on Burning Pines Drive where a man told them Prevendoski hit him with the handle of a garden tool and damaged vehicles parked in his driveway.
Prevendoski had already left but allegedly came back a couple hours later to break windows and glass panes in doors and vandalize property inside the home. This time, a sheriff’s canine unit tracked Prevendoski to Margaret Drive, where a resident called deputies to report a stolen pickup truck.
Deputies spotted the truck a short time later on Rowland Street, and state troopers followed it to Geyser Road, where Prevendoski allegedly got out of the truck and ran away.
Authorities later learned the victims on Burning Pines Drive had a temporary order of protection against Prevendoski, prohibiting him from visiting the home.
Prevendoski was arrested Sunday night and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal contempt. He was sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
