Home runs trigger ValleyCats' win
TROY Anthony Kemp and Dan Gulbransen belted home runs as the Tri-City ValleyCats won their second straight game, 9-6, over the Vermont Lake Monsters in a New York-Penn League game Tuesday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
The ValleyCats dominated the game until the Lake Monsters scored four times in the eighth inning to make it close.
Tri-City took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a single by James Ramsay and a double by Luis Alvarez. The ’Cats extended their lead in the next inning with Kemp’s first homer of the season.
After Vermont knotted the score at 2-2 in the top of the fifth, the ’Cats tacked on two more on Gulbransen’s first homer of the year.
Tri-City took over the game with three runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh.
Albert Minnis picked up the victory and Cia-Jen Lo got the save for the ValleyCats.
