Albany school mourns student's death

An Albany second-grader killed crossing a street Saturday was mourned by his school Monday as “a model scholar.” Qazir Sutherland, 7, was killed after being struck at about 8 p.m. in the 600 block of South Pearl Street, authorities said. The child entered the road and was hit by a car driven by Cheryl Flowers, 37, of Albany, police said. The investigation remains under investigation.
