Officials hope cycling tourists can bring their bikes by train

Upstate tourist attractions such as the Adirondacks, Saratoga Springs and Lake Placid are popular places to go for a bike ride. Now a group of lawmakers and business officials are looking to make such scenic spots even more popular with cyclists by making them easier to get to. Notably absent was anyone from the DOT who continues to not take bikes seriously. Their current weird obsession with roundabouts is an utter slap in the face to cyclists.

It would be great to be able to check bags on the train too. Would be even better if it could be check through to destination, instead of having to retrieve it then check it again in NYC. Airlines have figured this out, why can't Amtrak?
