— Fulton County authorities believe they have found the body of the third victim of a May 24 plane crash.

Sheriff's deputies said a body was found earlier today, but released no other information. They said more details would likely be available Thursday, after an autopsy is completed.

Three people were killed when a small plane flying from Bedford, Mass., to Rome, N.Y., broke apart in midair and crashed into the Garoga Reservoir about 5:15 p.m. Killed in the crash were the pilot, John Campbell, 70, of Stamford, Conn., and Evelyn and Frank Amerosa of Utica.

The bodies of Campbell and Evelyn Amerosa, 58, were recovered shortly after the crash, but Frank Amerosa, 64, was not immediately found despite intensive searches.

Campbell was piloting the Amerosas on a medical flight set up by the nonprofit organization Angel Flight. Frank Amerosa was in Boston for brain cancer treatment.

The small twin-engine plane changed direction less than two minutes before it broke apart, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board. The report did not identify a cause for the crash; that is not expected for at least a year.
