Homosexual Scout leaders aren’t likely to abuse their charges I’m sorry, but I have to respond to Gary Guido’s June 5 letter because it exemplifies why the ban on homosexual leaders should be rescinded. Enforcing a ban on openly gay leaders only perpetuates the myth that they are there to prey on our young boys. Reality is that a parent needs to be way more aware of the individual who appears happily married with children, ...

Jennifer Barnes, I know, traditional marriage and a value system is so archaic, that's the thinking that is destroying America. I don't care what you or anyone does in their bedroom, keep it there where it belongs. Don't force your PC progressive lifestyles on me or my kids, I will shape their lives and value system as their parent, you have no right. I'm so sick of these fringe groups forcing their beliefs on the rest of us.

@wmarincic,

How is what you refer to as this progressive PC lifestyle infringing on anything you do? If you want our laws and policies to continue to deny gays from having equal rights and opportunities, it seems to me that your the one who is infringing your agenda in a manner that directly affects them. As a parent, you can raise your children how you see fit. Denying someone a position because of who they are is discriminatory, yet when those groups who are directly affected try to change the views of such bigotry, a chorus of religious and conservative voices scream that their the ones who are suffer as a result. You can't turn back the clock back to the 1950s. Roll with the changes. You'll live a longer and happier life.

Why should it matter what someone does in the bedroom? You are trying to force homosexuality on others and like liberals if someone does not agree with you then they are bigots or homophobes. Trust me, I guarantee you that there are more close family members in my family that are LGBT. It is none of my business or your business what someones sexual preferance is. Where do we draw the line on sexual freedom? I see almost every day in the paper and on the news that someone is arrested for molesting a child or having child pornography, is that alright since it seems like there are lots of them? How about S&M, B&D or bestiality? When do the rights and beliefs of Christians or Conservatives matter, or don't they?

BTW I was commenting on the letter writen by Jennifer Barnes and specifically her statement "Having homosexuals serve as leaders would not put your children in harm’s way physically; it may expose them to things you are morally against, but my suggestion is to get over it. Chances are, your children are already very tolerant of alternate lifestyles, and crippling them with an archaic belief system and prejudices will only put them at a disadvantage into the future". I don't need to get over anything and how dare she tell me too, she and you need to get over it....

Gays want male companionship-pure and simple. Too many gays are attracted to groups such as boy scouts because there is a dominance of male attendance. Gay men should volunteer their time to the girl scouts or other non male dominated group. No issue-no problem!
