Fox shot by cop in Gloversville had rabies
GLOVERSVILLE The fox that bit a Gloversville resident Monday tested positive for rabies, police said today.
Police and residents were on the lookout for the animal after it bit an unidentified adult and chased others near Bleecker and Lafayette streets. Residents spotted it in the area, leading a Gloversville police officer to shoot it.
The fox was set to the Fulton County Health Department and, following testing, was positive for rabies.
The victim, who received treatment for broken skin after the attack, was notified of the test results and encouraged to go for secondary treatment, according to a release from the Gloversville Police Department.
