Rotterdam police seek suspects in three burglaries
ROTTERDAM Rotterdam police are searching for two men suspected of burglarizing three homes in town early this morning, according to a news release issued today.
The burglaries occurred at homes in close proximity to each other along Romano Drive and O’Brien Avenue. The suspects entered through a rear window in each instance, and stole a flat screen TV, laptop computer and cash.
Police first learned of the burglaries when one of the homeowners woke up around 4:30 a.m. after hearing noises inside his home. He discovered a thin man about 5 feet tall in dark clothing in the kitchen. He confronted the man, who fled out the door empty-handed. The homeowner followed him and saw a second man outside his home in dark clothing, also fleeing.
Responding officers discovered two more burglaries during a check of the surrounding neighborhood.
Police are urging residents to keep their doors and windows locked and to use any outdoor lighting they might have. They’re also reminded to lock any vehicles parked outside their homes, and to avoid leaving anything valuable in them.
Anyone with information regarding the burglaries should call Rotterdam Police Detective Division at 355-7397.
