— Three Tri-City pitchers combined to two-hit the Hudson Valley Renegades, and Jon Kemmer hit a home run in the top of the ninth inning of a 1-0 New York-Penn League game Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium.

Tri-City starter Zach Morton allowed one hit through five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Albert Minnis and Randall Fant kept it scoreless the rest of the way, the Renegades (21-17) managing just one baserunner on a single off Minnis. Fant (1-1) threw the final three innings, striking out three and allowing no baserunners to earn the win. After inducing a groundout from Ariel Soriano to start the home ninth, he struck out Johnny Field and Tyler Young to end the game.

Kemmer’s lone hit was a big one. He smacked his solo home run with one out in the top of the ninth off Hudson Valley reliever Rick Teasley (2-1), who took the loss. When Teasley took the mound in the seventh, he hit Kemmer with a pitch to lead off the inning.

Hudson Valley starter Aaron Griffin scattered three hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking one, but a lack of run support against Morton kept him from factoring in the decision.

The ValleyCats (26-12) got a double from Brett Booth and a pair of singles from James Ramsay.

The ValleyCats also shut the Renegades out Wednesday night, 4-0.

Tri-City will play at Vermont tonight at 7:05.
