Amateur baseball: Mohawks beat Dawgs in 10

LITTLE FALLS — John Nogow­ski singled home Kyle Barrett in the top of the 10th inning, and Mike Urbanski worked out of a jam in the bottom of the inning as the Amsterdam Mohawks beat

the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs, 2-1, Tuesday in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game.

Barrett, who drove in Brian Ruby with a fifth-inning single to tie the game, led off the 10th with a single, moved to second on a balk and took third on an error before scoring on Nogowski’s hit.

Urbanski gave up a leadoff

double to Matt Zenatta in the bottom of the 10th, but left him stranded to preserve the win.

DUTCHMEN TOP PIONEERS

ALBANY — Luke Nethaway and Anthony Marks both drove in two runs as the Albany Dutchmen defeated the Elmira Pioneers, 5-1, in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

Orris each had an RBI in the second inning for the 19-12 Dutchmen. Nethaway added a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and Marks got another run in with a ground ball.

ATHLETICS WIN 30TH

ALBANY — Jayson Sullivan and Drew Cody both hit two-run doubles in a six-run third inning, and the Albany Athletics beat the Albany Thunder, 10-5, in an Albany Twilight League game at Bleecker Stadium.

The win was the 30th of the season for the A’s, who are 20-1 in the ATL. Tom Hopkins had a single and an RBI double for the 11-12 Thunder.

BRIGADE in shutout

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Jonah Philley and Kevin Porter combined on a shutout, and Jo-El Bennett hit a two-run double as the Saratoga Brigade beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 3-0, in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at East Side Rec.

Philley gave up six hits and struck out four in seven innings. Bennett’s two-run double was the big hit in a three-run second for Saratoga.

Burnt Hills advances

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Eric Agan drove in three runs and recorded eight strikeouts in three innings of pitching as Burnt Hills beat Saratoga Springs, 6-2, in the semi­finals of the Section 3 11- 12-year-old Little League tournament.

Will Kindl added a single, a double and a triple, and Andrew Poirier hit a pair of doubles for Burnt Hills, which advanced to Thursday’s championship game.

WILTON BEATS ATTACK

BEEKMAN — Kyle Hennessy hit two home runs as Wilton beat the Clifton Park Attack, 13-3, in the Cal Ripken 12U state final.

Reese McClements and Ben Mason also homered for Wilton. Alex Harrison and Jason Rubillotta hit home runs for the Attack.

Both teams advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regional, set for July 24-27 in Wilton.
