United Airlines plans to lay off 42 at Albany airport
ALBANY United Airlines has given notice that it will lay off 40 people at Greater Rochester International Airport in October and 42 more at the Albany airport.
The Chicago-based carrier outlined the plans in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state labor department.
The notice indicates United is considering switching to an outside vendor for customer service and ramp operations.
A statement from the airline Tuesday says such decisions are difficult, but that it must continually look for ways to run a more efficient business.
