Krauthammer, like others of his ilk, wrong about climate change Charles Krauthammer’s July 6 column, “Obama fiddling over climate change,” is a classic example of climate change denial. I expect more from Krauthammer, who was trained as a doctor and should understand solid scientific evidence that humans are forcing climate change. He says, “Global temperatures have been flat for 16 years.” That is a frequent claim by climate deniers, who pick 1998, an abnormally hot ...

CLIMATE CHANGE ALERT! Sorry Don. I won't use your new, redundant term: climate change. I'll stick with your original term: Global Warming. Don is a "Global Warming, Flat-Earther." The claim of man-made global warming is the biggest scam ever committed on capitalism. Don wants America to downsize and stop driving cars. He thinks America, by itself, is going to promote a healthy environment by regressing to the times of horse and buggy. Meanwhile, China is placing one (1) coal fired power plant online EACH WEEK. How do people like Don propose we get China to behave? Hmmm? Don says, "We need to join the world community..." This comment is stated as if it would be a voluntary by the citizens of our country. Don's idea of "joining" would have to be by coercion - or worse. Hey Don. I'm choosing not to "join" the world community. Is that ok with you?

Larry O'Connor-We don't have to look at Egypt for lack of small d democracy. Look at one party flop Schenectady County. Democrats bankrupting the City and County. County Democrats voting a tax increase 3X the Cuomo Tax Cap. Democrats running City finances into the ground and continue wild borrowing. Look out for the unique Conservative/Working Family endorsed candidates.

There is plenty of evidence that the continual, record-setting high rise in temperatures is a man-made phenomenon. The most effective strategy for reducing coal emissions has been to replace coal burning sources of energy with fracking technology. Yet, if you attempt to mention the "F" word, some environmentalists go ballistic and will never consider getting behind such initiatives that actually have proven to lower emissions. The lesser of two evils(Coal burning and Fracking) is applied in all kind of decisions our leaders and voters make in our democracy. Yet even though coal burning is a far worse form of pollution, the anti-frackers seem oblivious to that comparison and will never accept any strategic plan that may include fracking to reduce harmful emissions. You just can't reason with these nuts.

Climate change is a global issue and if the anti-frackers were pragmatic and serious about reducing green house gasses they would encourage our government to share its fracking technology with China, which creates more pollution than anyone since they had no guidelines for protecting the environment. When the discussion comes to fracking and the hardcore environmentalists, the word compromise just doesn't exist in their vocabulary.

Sorry Will1960........there is exactly zero evidence that rise of temperatures is a man-made phenomenon.....zero!

Albright1,

How do we know this global warming is human caused, or man made? Is global warming real, or a hoax? Consider the facts: the climate has left the natural cycle path; multiple lines of evidence and studies from different fields all point to the human fingerprint on current climate change; the convergence of these evidence lines include ice mass loss, pattern changes, ocean acidification, plant and species migration, isotopic signature of CO2, changes in atmospheric composition, and many others. The only identifiable cause is human influence and increased greenhouse gas emissions. Science has simply not found any other cause factor that can account for the amount of current increased radiative forcing and associated warming.

Rather than denying the obvious, how would you explain the cause of these recording setting temperatures other than human activities?

Will1960, the only problem about your "FACTS" is that you apply a conclusion to scientific data gathered over time. There never was and never will be any factual evidence that humans have caused the change in climate. There is also no proof that this small sample in time is not a normal climate cycle. Conveniently studies by scientists that disagree with your conclusions are dismissed as out of the main stream. You can only be main stream if you agree with liberal thought. Data has already been proven to have been doctored. Do I know that climate change is not caused by human activity? No. Do I believe it is? Don't know. I agree with your point about the left who attack America on fossil fuels while ignoring China and the rest of the world. We have done more then any country and putting us back in the stone age is simply the lefts uncompromising arrogant nature.

I believe through the process of elimination it is reasonable to believe that the recent rise is global warming is due to mankind. To say that there is zero evidence that global warming is a man-made problem is ridiculous and laughable. Until someone bothers to identify a different culprit, I think it's wise for our energy policies to reflect that concern by weaning America along with the rest of the world off coal burning plants, even if we have to resort to fracking to lead the way in such a transition.

The only thing you eliminated was all other possibilities. Is this complete garbage because it does not fit your model?

I grew up listening to the same people blather about global cooling. Seems every
alarmist gets funding. I wonder if there is a scientific correlation!
