— A A man who is accused of causing a Northway crash that killed two Shenendehowa High School students is scheduled to go on trial in September.

Dennis Drue, 22, of Halfmoon, is charged with 52 felony counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide. Shenendehowa High School seniors Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers died in the Dec. 1 crash, which seriously injured two other high school students.

His trial is slated to start Sept. 30 in Saratoga County Court before Judge Jerry J. Scarano.

Authorities said Drue was impaired by alcohol and marijuana when his vehicle struck the rear of a sport-utility vehicle Stewart was driving. The SUV overturned in the median south of Exit 8.

Before his trial, hearings will be held on Aug. 16 to determine whether the jury can hear Drue's statements to police and his prior run-ins with the law.
