Police say Glenville teen rode off after friend's fatal crash
MILTON A Glenville man has been charged in connection with Tuesday’s fatal motorcycle accident on Route 67 in Milton.
According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas E. Jansen, 19, of 90 Scotch Bush Road, Burnt Hills, was riding on Route 67 when he hit a guardrail and was thrown from his 2005 Honda motorcycle around 12:30 p.m.
Investigators said Wednesday that Jansen was going too fast and lost control, causing the crash. They also determined he was not riding alone at the time of the crash.
They arrested Alex J. Gage, 18, of 182 Birchwood Lane, Glenville, on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a felony, and operating out of class and operating an unregistered motorcycle.
Investigators said the two were riding together at the time of the crash, and Gage did not stop after the crash or report it. Because he has only a permit, they said, he was required to stay close to a licensed motorcycle operator when riding.
Gage was released to reappear in Milton Town Court later this month.
