— Businesses can learn how to apply for state funds at three upcoming workshops in the Capital Region.

The Capital Region Economic Development Council will kick off the learning sessions on July 10 in Albany, where businesses and individuals can learn about the Consolidated Funding Application process and the funds that will be made available through Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s third round of regional economic development council awards.

CFA submissions must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Aug. 12. Once they are submitted, the Capital Region Economic Development Council will review the plans to determine whether they’re aligned with the regional strategic plan.

The Albany workshop runs from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Empire State Plaza. The next session is at the Columbia-Greene Community College from 9:30 a.m. to noon on July 15. The final workshop is at SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury on July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The CFA process is touted by the state as an improvement over earlier methods of securing state funding, which required businesses and individuals to sometimes deal with multiple state agencies. A description of available funding can be found in the 2013 Available CFA Resources Manual at .
