Regina Doi, Galway library director, to run for supervisor's seat
GALWAY The town of Galway Democratic Committee has endorsed the town’s library director for supervisor.
Regina Doi will face Republican Paul Lent in November’s election.
Doi was raised in the area and has lived in Galway since she was a teenager. She has been director of the Galway Public Library for almost four years and is also an artist and horse lover.
In a caucus on Monday, Democrats also endorsed Frank W. Scwab IV for highway superintendent. He is a local businessman who ran for highway superintendent in 2007.
Lent, the GOP candidate for supervisor, plans to retire as Saratoga County emergency services director this year. He is currently a member of the Town Board, having been appointed in January upon the resignation of George Weed.
The supervisor seat is up for grabs after 12-year Supervisor George Hargrave, 76, announced he would not seek re-election.
The town supervisor is paid $14,000 by the town, as well as an $18,509 salary by the county for serving on the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.
