High winds leave a few thousand without power in region
CAPITAL REGION High winds reaching speeds of up to 60 mph that continue to sweep through the region have caused the loss of power to a few thousand residents.
At 10 a.m., the following number of customers without power, by county, are:

Rensselaer: 248
Schoharie: 48
NATIONAL GRID:
Albany: 374
Montgomery: 95
Rensselaer: 135
Saratoga: 160
Schenectady: 66
Warren: 349
Washington: 380
National Grid reports only a few customers affected by outages in Fulton and Schoharie counties.
About 24,000 utility customers across the entirety of upstate New York are without power.
The outages are scattered, from about 4,400 in Seneca County in central New York to more than 10,000 in the Hudson Valley.
The National Weather Service says high wind warnings remain in effect until later Thursday from Buffalo to Albany. A wind gust of 63 was recorded in Penn Yan in the Finger Lakes.
Forecasters say temperatures will continue to fall throughout the day from Wednesday’s record-breaking high temperatures in the 50s and 60s to the 30s and 40s Thursday. Highs will be in the 20s Friday, when parts of western and central New York are expected to more than a foot of lake-effect snow.
