ROTTERDAM A Sunday fire damaged a Rotterdam home, fire officials said.
The fire was called in by the resident of 3040 Edgewood Ave., just before noon Sunday, South Schenectady Assistant Fire Chief Jason Pollard said.
Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire in the home’s basement. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, containing it to the basement, Pollard said. The home can be rehabbed.
One man lived in the home and he escaped without injury, Pollard said. He was being assisted by the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
South Schenectady was assisted by Rotterdam Fire District 2, Carman and Pine Grove departments.
