Tartans keep attack cranked up

Junior guard Alex Sausville reached season highs with five three-point baskets and 22 points, and the Scotia-Glenville basketball team continued its torrid offensive pace with a 76-53 Foothills Council win Thursday night at Queensbury.

The Tartans (8-0, 12-0), No. 8 in the state Class A rankings, have piled up 70 points or more 11 times.

Sausville nailed three of his threes and totaled 11 points in the first quarter to help Scotia-Glenville open up a 26-12 lead, and the Tartans went on to win for the third time in seven nights. Joe Cremo led the Tartans with 25 points and 14 rebounds, and Andrew Tabbert had 18 points and seven assists.

Andrew Homkey scored 12 points for the Spartans (4-5, 4-7), and Charlie Peltz had 11.

Jake Dailey led five double-digit Glens Falls scorers with 14 points, and the Indians used a big third quarter to beat Johnstown, 79-58.

Cam Girard and Jordan Green both scored 12 points for the Indians (5-2, 6-4), and Lee Girard and Sam Sax both put in 11. Jamal Vasquez topped Johnstown with 23 points, which included an 11-for-11 free-throw effort in the second half.

Ben Bellandi, Mark Sylvia and Andre Taylor produced 10 points apiece as Broadalbin-Perth (3-4, 5-6) edged Hudson Falls, 43-42.

Brandon Winchell led the Tigers with 12 points, Christian Henkel had 11 and Wyatt Gorham had 10.

Justin Ducey scored 16 points, and Luke Van Dixhorn fired in 15 as South Glens Falls held off Gloversville, 59-56. Asa Barhill scored 28 for Gloversville.

Ethan Ross-Hixson scored eight of his 21 points in the third quarter, and John Rooney contributed 16, to propel Hoosic Valley past Hoos­ick Falls, 47-36, in the Wasaren League.

Hoosic Valley is ranked No. 4 in the state in Class C. Tyler Baker and Randy Tutunjian scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Panthers.

Alexandra Cardinal scored 17 points, and Rachel Strijek netted 11 as the Schalmont girls (6-4, 8-4) defeated Lansingburgh, 57-44, in a Colonial Council game.

Tabia Gamble scored 16 of her career-high 22 points in the second half, and Diamond Payne added 13 for the winless Knights.

NISKAYUNA WINS

Eric Steele and Anthony Laniew­ski both pinned to help Niskayuna beat Guilderland, 42-34, in a Suburban Council wrestling crossover match.

Guilderland’s Josh Logiudice won by fall at 99 pounds to remain undefeated.

John McHugh, Kyle Greene, Matt McHugh, Angelo Kress and Chris Morrissey won by fall as Columbia topped Saratoga Springs, 52-27.

Cobleskill-Richmondville clinched at least a tie for the Col­onial Council title by beating Mechanicville, 59-21.

The 7-0 Bulldogs got pins from unbeaten Mike Green, Derrick Knight, Tanner Shufelt, Brandon Merchant, Taylor Epting and Laine Plaickhardt.
