Late rally lifts Lions over Bulldogs, 70-63

With the help of five three-pointers in the final quarter, Mekeel Christian Academy outscored Berne-Knox-Westerlo, 31-23, in the last eight minutes of a 70-63 Western Athletic Conference victory.

Caleb Stewart scored 21 points to lead the Lions (6-0 WAC, 8-2 overall). Daniel Alteri added 14, Courtney Penson had 13, and Mano Senthil finished with 10.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo (3-3, 6-4) got 25 points from Garrett Pitcher, while both Justin Houck and Tanner Laurie scored 11.

Josh Gonzalez hit the front end of a one-and-one to push Canajoharie ahead late in a 46-45 win over Fort Plain. Zach Bowerman led the Cougars (7-1) with 16 points, and Dylan Veeder had 12 points.

Fort Plain (5-4, 7-5) was led by Jake Sardina with 12 points.

St. Johnsville edged Northville, 55-53, with 21 points from Alex Hart and 17 from Jonny Vicciarelli, improving to 4-4, 5-5. Northville (3-4, 5-5) got 17 points from Brad VanNostrand, 14 from Tim Monette and 12 from Nick Jonas.

Nick Loukides scored 13 points to help 2-3 Duanesburg to a 44-32 win over Middleburgh. Dylan Madison added 10.

Schoharie’s James Sacket scored 17 points, and Evan Ottman had 13 in a 73-15 win over Sharon Springs. Ottman had 10 points in the first quarter, helping his team out to a 22-4 start.

Andrew Tabbert led Scotia-Glenville with 25 points in a 100-27 Foothills Council win over Johnstown.

The Tartans jumped out quick with a 34-2 first quarter.

Joe Cremo scored 22 points for Scotia (7-0 Foothills, 11-0 overall), Alex Sausville scored 16, and both Mike Palleschi and Kelsey Francois chipped in with 11 points.

The Sir Bills were led by Mike Everest with nine points.

South Glens Falls got 18 points from Josh Hay and 10 from Travis Ramsey to get past Hudson Falls, 51-46. The Tigers got 12 points apiece from Matt Connolly and Brandon Winchell, while Christian Henkel added 11.

Glens Falls beat Queensbury, 48-40, with 16 points from Cam Girard and 13 from Lee Girard. The Spartans were led by Charles Peltz with 16 points.

Gloversville’s Asa Barnhill scored 16 points to lead the Dragons to a 51-44 win over Broadalbin-Perth.

The Patriots were led by Ben Bellandi’s 15 points and 10 from Chris Natoli.

In the Big 10, Greig Stire scored 20 points to lead Christian Brothers Academy past Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, 73-35. The Brothers also got 10 points from Daniel Owens. Bishop Gibbons was led by Dwayne Freeman’s 13 points.

Bishop Maginn’s JaQuan Jones scored late to secure a 49-47 win over Albany. He finished with 10 points, while both Demere Hannah and Derrick Thomas Jr. led with 12. Jeremy Nixon also scored 10 in the win.

Albany’s Deneeff Danzy and Syeed McPherson both had 12 points, and Marquan Chandler added 11.

Troy’s Javion Ogunyemi led a balanced attack with 15 points in a 60-46 win over LaSalle. Dyaire Holt (14), Jerrell Reid (13) and Zach Radz (11) also hit double digits in the win.

LaSalle was led by Ralph Erickson’s 28 points.

Anthony Mack scored 23 points, and Jiriem Tedders added 22 in Catholic Central’s 78-68 win over Amsterdam. Raiquis Harris had 15 points, and Brian Grimes added 13 in the win.

The Rams (2-8, 2-9) got 19 points from Bryon Stanovich. Luis Laboy scored 18, and Robert Sherlock finished with 15.

Bethlehem posted a 63-58 Suburban Council win over Columbia, getting 15 points from both John Sica and Connor Morelli. Myles Bergere added 13 points for the Eagles (8-1 Suburban, 10-1 overall).

Columbia (6-3, 7-4), which dropped into third in the South Division, got 20 points from Jahlil Nails, 15 from Elijah Lott and 10 from Kevin Smith.

Ballston Spa beat Saratoga Springs, 47-42, with 17 points from Andre Edgerton. Jeremy Mendrick added 11 points, and Andrew Gentile scored 10 for the Scotties. The Blue Streaks were led by Noah Arciero’s 19 points.

Shenendehowa slipped past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 57-54, with 16 points from Brandon Fischer. Drew Zlogar and Jake Hicks added 10 points apiece.

The Spartans got 12 points from Austin Nydegger and 19 from Robbie Knightes.

Averill Park’s Dan Van Roy scored 23 points in 59-46 win over Mohonasen. Myles Joyce added 13 points.

The Mighty Warriors got 17 points from Grant Massaroni and 11 from Nick Rapp.

Shaker got the best of Niskayuna late in a 59-57 win. The Blue Bison (8-1, 10-1) got 22 points from Malik Dare and 14 from Zach Yakel.

Brent Oliver scored 21 points, and Aaron Gordon had 10 for the Silver Warriors (1-8, 1-8), who led the North Division leaders, 45-40, entering the final quarter.

In the Colonial Council, Voorheesville got a combined 38 points from Noah Crawford and Dylan Hensel to beat Cobleskill-Richmondville, 71-37. Crawford hit for 21 points, and Hensel added 17.

The Bulldogs (2-6 Colonial, 2-9 overall) were led by Brad Koeberle’s 10 points.

Watervliet’s Tyler McLeod scored 30 points, and Jordan

Gleason hit for 29 in an 81-48 win over Schalmont. Dom Caputo scored 16 for the Sabres.

Josh Hall and David Warnken both scored 14 points as Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk topped Lansingburgh, 59-46. Desmond Williams added 11 points in the win.

Lansingburgh got 12 points from Darrius Brunette and 11 from Malik Miller.

Nate Hatalsky and Mike Cannizzo both scored 13 points as Mechanicville beat Ichabod Crane, 53-41. Paul Vermilyea added 11 points in the win.

The Riders (3-5, 6-5) got nine points from Shaun Davis.

Warrensburg’s Nick Perrone scored all 11 of his points in the final quarter, including the game-winner with 12 seconds remaining, in a 53-52 Adirondack League win over Corinth. Shea Irish led with 25 points in the win.

The Tomahawks got 30 points from Zack Shippee, including 12 in the third quarter to establish a 41-25 lead.

In Patroon Conference action, Maple Hill beat Coxsackie-Athens, 52-48, with 11 points and 14 rebounds from Tate Tibbitts. Jake Hill had 16 points in the win, and Kyle Hall had 12.

Coxsackie-Athens got 16 points apiece from Dylan Donovan and Tristan Valencia.
