Krenicki cashed in at GE like Welch, then joined him at hedge fund The Jan. 3 Daily Gazette reported that, a website that searches for newsworthy nuggets in U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings by public companies, gave the “worst 2012 footnote” honors to GE for an outlandish retirement package. To David E. Hine... in my estimation, in order for schools to be safer if teachers/administrators/janitors/etc. had guns would mean that those guns would have to be at-the-ready... meaning they'd have to be loaded, ready to shoot, holstered on the person, or on a desk or somewhere handy... certainly not locked up in a safe-room where the teachers/administrator couldn't get to them in a crisis. That being said, teachers are notorious for leaving things laying around... pocketbooks, money, keys, laptop computers... which are then picked up by students. I would not be comfortable giving a teacher a gun so they can just lay that somewhere for a student to pick up and start shooting! And that's exactly what would happen! And who's going to train all these school personnel in how to load and shoot a gun? School is no place for weapons. The best we can hope for is that schools wake up and lock their doors. If someone is trying to break in, call the police... they are the ones who are trained to deal with situations like armed gunmen... not the teachers or other school personnel! Unfortunately nothing could have prevented the tragedy in Newtown, but it should be a wake-up call to school the world over... lock your doors and don't let anyone in who hasn't been invited!

newyorker65, what makes you think that many of these teachers etc. are not already responsible gun owners? Right, you assumed. Case closed.

Strock's ignorant intolerant views on religion are missed? You read enough and you see it all.

Here is an article where an armed SRO in Tennessee just prevented a mass killing in a school this last Monday.

It makes sense to let good people have weapons on school property. It makes no sense to make schools "Gun Free Zones"

I miss 'a strock' too...Sundays, and Tuesdays have become less engaging and entertaining. Its strange, that i missed him, and wondered how he's doing just this week too.

Schenectady needs a smart curmudgeon. GAZETTE would do itself and me a favor to find a new one. Johnny Mack is too glib, and oblique.
