Albany police probe reported robbery of Stewarts store

— Albany police are investigating an armed robbery that occured last month on Central Avenue.

On Dec. 28 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a reported robbery at the Stewarts store on Central Avenue. The clerk said two men walked into the store and demanded money. The clerk told officers that one of the suspects was holding what appeared to be a rifle or a shotgun. The suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

One of the suspects was described as a black male about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and with a black scarf covering his face. The other suspect was described as a black male about 6 feet tall, weighing about 170 pounds with his face covered.

The suspects may be responsible for other commerical robberies in the Albany area, police said.
