— Authorities say a man is hospitalized after he crashed his vehicle while trying to elude police by driving the wrong way on a Rensselaer County highway.

State police say the man was driving a truck that nearly hit two Albany police officers who were standing outside their patrol cars late Sunday night. The officers pursued the truck but backed off when state troopers started chasing the vehicle on Interstate 90’s eastbound lanes.

Police say the man drove across the median and drove the wrong way on the westbound lanes before crashing near Exit 10 in the Rensselaer County town of Schodack, just southeast of Albany.

No other information has been released by state police, including the man’s name, the nature of his injuries or any charges.
