High school basketball: Albany wins again

Ayanna Hunter had 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals in leading Albany past Montclair, N.J., 49-36, at the Girls’ High School Basketball Showcase at John F. Kennedy High School in New Jersey.

Emia Willingham-Hurst had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Ariel Gregg had eight points, six rebounds and two blocks for the

10-0 Lady Falcons, who take on South Shore today in another showcase contest. Montclair got 29 points from Myesha Hines-Allen.

Renee Handy scored 12 points in Sharon Springs’ 44-37 loss to Deposit in the consolation game of the Morris Tournament.

Boys

Spencer Bath sank six three-point baskets and totaled 22 points, and Mekeel Christian Academy used a big first half to beat King’s Christian Collegiate of Toronto, 64-42, in a non-league game at C.G. Finney High School in Penfield.

Courtney Penson scored 12 points and Caleb Stewart had 10 as Mekeel (5-2) extended its win streak to five games. Carter Smith led King’s with 12 points.

Host Northville opened up a seven-point lead through the first quarter and held off Doane Stuart, 53-47, in the championship game of the Woodward Tournament.

Most valuable player Tim Monette scored 19 points for the Falcons (6-4), and all-tournament pick Rory Siy paced Doane Stuart with 21.

Conner Zeoli scored 15 points, three other Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk players reached double digits, and the Indians beat Coble­skill-Richmondville, 72-33, in a Col­onial Council game.
