Glens Falls considers earlier closing time for bars
GLENS FALLS Another upstate municipality is considering a proposal to require bars to close earlier in an effort to stem rowdy behavior.
Glens Falls Mayor John “Jack” Diamond has started a push to move up the closing time from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m., the Post Star reports. Diamond’s proposal comes in response to last month’s attack on a man in a parking lot on South Street, where many of the city’s bars are located.
To change the closing time, the Warren County Board of Supervisors would have to recommend that the state Liquor Authority board consider it.
In recent years, city councils in Saratoga Springs and Buffalo have considered requiring bars to close earlier than the current 4 a.m. closing time but the proposals haven’t been approved.
