Identity theft charge leveled against Gloversville man
GLOVERSVILLE Police have charged a city man in an alleged identity theft scheme.
Marshall D. Alessi, 23, of 68 W. Eighth Ave., was arrested today by detectives. He is charged with one count each of identity theft in the second degree, a class E felony, and grand larceny in the fourth degree, also a class E felony.
Police say Alessi used an acquaintance’s social security number several times from Jan. 22 to Feb. 6 to purchase over $2,000 of items online utilizing a PayPal account and then had the packages delivered to his residence.
He was arraigned in front of Gloversville City Court Judge Tracy DiMezza and remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.
