Schenectady man charged in Colonie hotel robbery
COLONIE Colonie police have arrested a 37-year-old Schenectady man in connection with the Feb. 12 robbery of the Best Western Hotel on Wolf Road.
David D. Taylor, of 439 Emmit St., is a former maintenance employee at the hotel. With the help of the U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Task Force, police located him in Schenectady. He was charged with second-degree robbery, a felony, but police say further charges in the case are possible for Taylor and his accomplices.
Detectives are investigating Taylor's involvement in a Jan. 31 robbery of Best Western, and are asking that anyone with information about the robberies or other suspects contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
In that instance, two suspects entered the lobby and one displayed a semi-automatic handgun while going behind the desk, police said. The second suspect stood by the front door during the robbery.
The desk clerk handed over $570 and the suspects left.
A gun was not displayed during the Feb. 12 robbery, when two men entered the lobby of the Best Western Hotel and forced two employees to the floor.
Taylor appeared in Colonie Justice Court Wednesday night and was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility. His case has been referred to the Albany County District Attorney's Office.
