New York in Bloom festival this weekend

— Lift your spirits and think spring with a visit to the 22nd annual New York in Bloom festival at the New York State Museum, where there will be more than 100 floral displays plus gardening demonstrations and information.

Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Admission, which benefits the museum’s after-school programs, is $5, and free for children under 12.

On Saturday and Sunday, you can buy an $8 combo ticket, which includes admission to the 20th annual James E. Campbell Memorial Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show and Sale.

Admission to the gem and mineral show only is $5.

David Michael Schmidt, owner of Renaissance Floral Design, designed the “Once Upon A Time” floral display in the museum lobby. The display incorporates objects from the museum’s collections, including an 1800s horse-drawn glass hearse; a custom-made Cinderella ball gown and glass slippers.
