Old Forge man killed in snowmobile accident was involved in 2008 fatality
OLD FORGE A 52-year-old man killed in a snowmobiling accident in the Adirondacks was on probation for a drug-related car crash that killed his sister-in-law in 2008.
Police in the Herkimer County town of Webb tell local media outlets that Carl Barcomb of Old Forge was snowmobiling on a trail near his hometown around 8 a.m. Friday when he crashed on a turn and collided with a tree.
WKTV-TV in Utica reports that he was convicted in connection with a car crash that killed Laura Gribneau. After acknowledging he smoked marijuana before the crash, he pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Barcomb was sentenced to five years’ probation, which was still in effect when the snowmobile accident happened.
