— A 33-year-old Warren County woman charged with third-degree rape this week for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy is an assistant librarian at Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls, police said.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office charged Abby J. Berkheimer of 2 Queens Way in the town of Queensbury with committing a criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child.

Lt. Steven Stockdale of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department said Berkheimer worked in the library’s teen center.

Police were called to the woman’s home after the underage male had been found there by his parents after he had not returned home on time. A police investigation determined that the boy had allegedly been involved in a sexual relationship with the woman.

The suspect was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and taken to the Warren County Jail but has since been released on bail. The court issued a no-contact order of protection preventing the woman from having any contact with the boy.
