MONTPELIER, Vt. Last weekend’s record snowfall in parts of southern New England is giving a big boost to the ski industry in northern New England and upstate New York heading into the important President’s Day holiday week.
Ski resorts received lots of snow during the storm, but ski industry experts say one of the biggest drivers of skiers to the mountains is snow in population centers in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York City.
The snow helped erase any lingering doubts about ski conditions following two thaws that hit the region last month.
In Vermont, President’s Week is the most important holiday period for the ski industry.
Sarah Neith of the Vermont Ski Areas Association says this season is on track to match or exceed the record season of two years ago.
