Hospital-visitation restrictions due to flu season lifted at area hospitals
CAPITAL REGION Temporary restrictions intended to help limit the transmission of the flu have been lifted at area hospitals.
The restrictions are no longer in effect in patient units of Albany Medical Center; St. Peter's Health Partners hospitals including St. Peter's Hospital, Albany Memorial Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital in Troy and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital; Ellis Hospital and Ellis Medicine acute care hospitals including Bellevue Woman's Center; and Glens Falls Hospital. Saratoga Hospital lifted restrictions last week.
The action was taken following a steady decrease in the number of flu cases reported in the region since a peak in late December and early January.
Area medical facilities continue to ask people who are sick with any respiratory or gastrointestinal illness to refrain from visiting patients.
