— Three men accused of drilling holes in the gas tanks of numerous vehicles have been arrested.

According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office, Zachary Currier, 18 and Morgan K. Sharadin, 21, both of Ballston Spa, and Owen R. Gary, 18, who is homeless, carried out the vandalism spree for most of January.

The men allegedly drilled holes in the gas tanks to get at the gasoline, which they drained into a small gas can. They then transferred the gas into the vehicle they were driving.

The 20 reported incidents spanned five towns, as well as the village of Ballston Spa and the city of Saratoga Springs.

Police said the fuel was being used to fuel the defendants’ vehicles and their friends’ as well.

The defendants were each charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and second degree criminal mischief. All were jailed due to lack of bail.

The investigation is continuing and police say there is the possibility of additional arrests.

Anyone who has been victimized and has reported the incident to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is asked to fax receipts for repairs to 885-2454.
