Former Congressman John Sweeney will do a daily radio show on a local AM radio station.

The one-hour show will air weekdays at 11 a.m. on TALK1300, according to an announcement from the station.

Sweeney served eight years in the House of Representatives from New York's 20th Congressional District and was regarded as a rising star in the Republican Party. He lost a bid for re-election in 2006 to Kirsten Gillibrand, who went on to become a U.S. senator.

I guess John is finally hitting rock bottom. Paul Vandeburgh's radio station is about as far into the abyss as you call fall. I wish him well

Maybe he can better explain his "signature accomplishment" as congressman: banning the use of horses for meat. So important that.

I travel alot for work in my car and only lament that I can't pick up the 1300 signal further south of Catskill. Love Talk 1300 !! Awesome choice to have John Sweeney back in the public eye, or in this case ear! While everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions, remember Jesus admonition to the woman accused of adultery in John 8:7 “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” What the conservative Republicans need in the Capital District is a voice, and John will be that voice and I can't wait!!! It sure as heck is NOT Ed Cox, especially after what I heard from him on Fred Dicker's radio show this morning....

Talk 1300s signal is very directional, does not go south, and has a poor signal anyway. I would not want this Sweeney on my radio station, he has had too many problems and does not belong there.
