— Freshman goalie Jason Kasdorf stopped all 28 shots he faced for his second straight shutout, helping Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to a 3-0 ECAC Hockey victory over 16th-ranked Dartmouth in the annual Big Red Freakout game Saturday at Houston Field House.

The 4,820 fans witnessed the first consecutive shutouts posted by the Engineers (5-6-3 ECACH, 10-11-5 overall) since the 2003-04 season, when the late Nathan Marsters blanked Cornell, 2-0, Jan. 17, 2004, and Sacred Heart, 3-0, seven days later.

Kasdorf earned his first career collegiate shutout in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Harvard.

The win completed a weekend sweep for RPI, and it exacted some revenge. The Engineers were shut out by Dartmouth and Harvard the second weekend of November.

The Engineers took a 1-0 lead with 11 seconds left in the first period on a Matt Tinordi goal. Mike Zalewski made it 2-0 1:41 into the second period.

Later in the second, Mark Miller got his third goal of the weekend when he beat goalie Cab Morris.

The Engineers played without forward Johnny Rogic, who was suspended by the ECACH earlier in the for his hit from behind in Friday’s game.

Forward Jacob Laliberte returned to the RPI lineup after missing Friday’s contest because he was sick.
