Drunken driving alleged after car goes through ice on Brant Lake
HORICON A man faces drunken-driving and other charges after state police said he drove his car onto Brant Lake and broke through the ice.
Troopers said Stuart Mead, 60, of 1216 Palisades Road in the Warren County town of Horicon, drove his 2008 Kia Sedona onto the lake, but the ice below the vehicle broke, causing the vehicle to sink into the lake. Mead was not injured, troopers said, and was able to extract himself from the car and walk to shore and summon help.
Troopers said Mead refused to take a breath test and was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and other charges. He was arraigned in Horicon Town Court and freed on $10,000 bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for Feb. 14.
The vehicle was to be pulled from the lake today, trooper said.
