In Niagara Falls, they'll be dropping a guitar at midnight
NIAGARA FALLS — While the ball drops in Times Square to welcome the new year, a western New York community will be dropping a 10-foot guitar to celebrate the arrival of 2014.
The Niagara Gazette reports that the New Year's Eve celebrations in the city of Niagara Falls will include the lowering of a 10-foot illuminated Gibson guitar off the Giacomo Hotel at midnight.
The fifth annual downtown event is being hosted by the nearby Hard Rock Cafe, which is staging a free outdoor concert by the rock band Living Colour. A fireworks display starts at midnight.
Other New Year's Eve festivities in upstate New York include first night events in the Adirondack village of Saranac Lake and in the city of Saratoga Springs.
