One to 4 inches of snow expected in parts of region today
CAPITAL REGION The Capital Region missed fresh snow for Christmas, but not by much.
According to Luigi Meccariello from the Albany Weather Service, in and around the Capital Region there is some light snow being reported for today.
There is a winter weather advisory for parts of the Mohawk Valley until 4 p.m. and parts of the Capital Region can expect to get one to three inches of snow. In some areas, four inches of snow could accumulate throughout today.
For the most part, Meccariello said, this light snow fall is weather the Capital Region is accustomed to during the winter months. No intense snowfall is in the forecast, but a light snow is expected to fall up until tonight’s drive home.
“Take extra caution when driving this evening,” he said.
Temperatures will be in the upper 20s today, reaching 30 degrees. Temperatures tonight will drop to the lower 20s and upper teens.
There is no exciting weather in the forecast for this weekend. Friday will be partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the lower to mid-thirties. This weekend temperatures will warm up, nearing the 40 degree mark. Partly cloudy skies are once again in the forecast for the weekend.
